Joint Manipulation

  • The doctors at Lake Erie Spine & Injury Center use a variety of safe, gentle and effective spinal and extremity joint manipulation techniques to correct spinal alignment, aberrant(abnormal) joint biomechanics, influence proper movement of joints and improve neurological function. Manipulation techniques are chosen based on each individual patient’s assessment.

Soft Tissue Techniques

  • Myofacial release and Soft tissue manipulation is used for treatment of scar tissue or adhesions in muscles, tendons, or ligaments. It is performed manually by applying the right amount of tension to detect scar tissue or adhesion. The focus is to break up the restriction by “stripping” a patient’s muscle, tendons, or ligaments. Soft tissue techniques decrease overall time of treatment, recovery, and reduces the need for anti-inflammatory medication.
  • Counter strain  and Active Release Techniques are used to treat injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Treatments are performed by placing a hand on a specific area of tissue, then moving the area or having the patient move through a specific pattern. This treatment breaks up scar tissue and restores strength, flexibility and function to the soft tissue being treated.
